Gedney Hill Parish Council – Vacancy for Parish Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer (RFO)
 
Gedney Hill is a small rural Parish in the South Holland District of Lincolnshire. The Parish Council’s responsibilities include management of the cemetery, grass cutting, village maintenance and noticeboards.  The Parish pavilion is currently being refurbished, and we are in the planning stages for a Parish playground.
 
The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated and efficient.
 
The role requires:
Attendance at Parish Council meetings, usually held on the third Monday of May, July, September, November, January and March; and other Committee meetings on an ad-hoc basis.
Excellent communication and people skills, as you will need to liaise with Councillors, District and County Council representatives, members of the public and third-party organisations both in writing and verbally.
A proven record in bookkeeping and budget planning
To be well organised and able to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft office packages
Proficiency with social media and IT including website updates.
To be willing to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time. You may be required to attend additional evening or daytime meetings.
To be able to attend training courses or seminars on the work and role of the Clerk as required by the Council.
 
Ideally, the successful candidate will be a qualified clerk or prepared to study for and attain the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification within the first 12 months in post and be able to demonstrate knowledge of local government procedures, finance and law. However, candidates new to clerking who fits the job specification are welcome to apply.
 
The successful applicant will work from home; a laptop and printer are supplied, and it will be required to hold a modest quantity of confidential documents in a locked cabinet. A small non taxable home-working allowance will be payable.
 
This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period. 
 
The role is for an average of 10 hours per week.   Salary dependent on experience and in accordance with National pay scales.
