GEDNEY HILL PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE PLAY PARK COMMITTEE MEETING
Held at the Gedney Hill and District Memorial Hall, Hillgate, PE12 0NN
on Tuesday 6th January 2026, at 7pm

PUBLIC FORUM (15 minutes):
The condition of the access roadway was discussed, to be taken to full Council once all works are complete.
2 Chair’s remarks.
The Chair welcomed all members and visitors. She expressed her regret that Mellissa had left the Parish Council and thanked her for all her hard work, and for the legacy of the playpark project.
3 Apologies for absence and acceptance of reasons given.
D Leedham – apology accepted
4 Declarations of interest under the Localism Act 2011 and consideration of any requests for dispensation.
None
5 Acceptance of minutes from 3rd November 2025.
Minutes accepted and signed by Chair.
6 To receive a financial update.
The funds allocated to PPC within the Parish Council accounts total £3623.54
a. Use of funds from Santa Run
It was agreed to use these funds to provide children’s activities at the Party In The Park
7 SPF Grass Roots Funding.
The works are virtually complete, the first 50% of grant monies has been paid over to the contractor (along with further stage payments from Parish Council reserves) – the balance of funding can be claimed on final completion.
8 Grant funding
a. Michael Cornish application
The application has been unsuccessful – the funding round was oversubscribed.
b. Wryde Croft Windfarm application
The application has been unsuccessful – further applications to wait until Autumn 2026 by which time the major project should be near completion.
9 Lottery Funding.
We are waiting for contact from Katy Roberts with an update
a. Lease
The Charity have taken professional advice and will respond to the Parish Council with their thoughts in due course.
10 To discuss the current status of the planning application.
a. Biodiversity Net Gain report
The BNG Matrix return has been returned to the Ecologist for their comments and confirmation that we have met the requirements to comply with the planning condition.
b. Planning Application status
Awaiting final ratification once BNG has been accepted (see above).
11 2026 events.
a. Party In The Park – agree a date
Sunday 3rd May 2026
b. Official reopening of the pavilion
An Easter Egg Hunt over the weekend of 3rd to 6th April 2026, exact date to be confirmed
c. Any other fundraising events
Halloween and beer festival were suggested. A Facebook poll will be posted to seek suggestions from the Parish.
